Often called Tip-Top or Tilt-Top, these tables are among the most beautiful of all furniture pieces. This design is patterned after a museum piece dated circa 1750. We have chosen to show a plain 31″ diameter top rather than a dish top or piecrust top because of the difficulty in turning a large diameter on a lathe. Both carved claw-and-ball foot, and an alternate snake foot which is much easier to make are shown on the plan. The crowÆs nest, which allows the 30-1/8″ high top to both tilt and turn is shown in detail on the full-size plan.
