About Linus and Lucy Gaming

Our Story

Every great game tells a story. Ours began with two cats named Linus and Lucy—though we almost called them Lucy and Ethel until a quick check “under the hood” required a rapid name pivot.

They started life as neglected yard cats, mostly ignored and wanting for everything. But once we brought them home as older kittens, they never wanted for anything again. What we discovered were two completely different personalities sharing an unbreakable bond.

Lucy was our tiny fighter—literally half the weight of her brother but completely in charge. She was definitely a daddy’s girl, always claiming a lap during our game nights, but when my wife was sick, Lucy never left her side. She was shy with strangers, preferring to hide until they left, then emerge to snuggle close to us. Despite being the runt, she kept her much larger brother in line with strategic head slaps when he got out of line.

Linus, our gentle giant and social butterfly, has always been our great adventurer. While Lucy ruled from the shadows, Linus greeted everyone who came through the door. For what feels like forever, he’s been supervising our board game sessions from his favorite perch, and at 18, he’s still going strong—despite beating cancer five years ago when doctors gave us maybe three more years with him.

Both were devoted lap cats, which meant our gaming sessions always had feline supervision. Neither could go outside because Lucy had severe allergies—to grass, fleas, even dust. When triggered, she’d turn into one giant scab. We changed all the flooring in our house so allergens had nowhere to hide. I gave her daily allergy shots for years until we finally got everything under control. The transformation from that suffering little cat to healthy and comfortable was worth every shot, every renovation, every accommodation.

When we lost Lucy recently, it left a scar that hasn’t healed. Linus still walks around calling for her—I don’t think he understands what happened. I keep a chair by her grave and talk to her sometimes. In quiet moments, I still see her, still feel her presence.

Why Meeples Matter

When we started exploring custom gaming pieces, creating silhouettes for Linus and Lucy felt natural. Those first meeples weren’t just game pieces—they were a way to keep them both at our gaming table, where they’d always belonged.

But we realized something important: every pet owner deserves to bring their beloved companions into their games. Whether it’s the loyal dog who greets you at the door, the clever cat who supervises game nights, or the colorful bird who chatters during your turns—these aren’t just animals. They’re family members with personalities as unique as any game character.

Gaming is deeply personal. The stories we tell, the memories we create, the characters we embody—these moments deserve pieces that reflect what matters most to us.

Our Mission

We’re creating animal-themed meeple collections for gamers who want their hobby to feel authentic and meaningful. Each set features carefully crafted silhouettes that capture the essence of beloved pets and wildlife, bringing personality and connection to any gaming experience.

Our collections aren’t just about replacing generic wooden pieces. They’re about honoring the creatures we love, keeping cherished companions at our side even when they can’t be there physically, and celebrating the joy that animals bring to our lives.
